About Luke Rothschild Composer
_______________________________
Luke Rothschild is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, performer, and performance ensemble leader. Luke creates scores for film, television, dance and theater. He is a songwriter, music producer, sound designer, and collaborator that has worked on myriad writing and recording projects and albums. Luke works as a solo entity, and in conjunction with the performance ensemble String Theory, which he co-founded in 2002.
Always drawn to creative endeavors, Luke focused his studies on music and fine art early in his career. After graduating from Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts, Luke received his Bachelors of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he nurtured a multidisciplinary approach to integrating sonic and sculptural mediums. This led to the development of sculptural resonators and invented instruments, which in tandem with his ear for compelling composition, opened the doors to more than two decades of collaboration with many talented artists, performers, directors and producers.
Luke composes for and performs with String Theory, the LA based performance and music production ensemble that he co-founded with his wife Holly in 2002. String Theory creates giant Harp installations and performances in southern California, the US, and abroad to critical acclaim. Luke designs and constructs all of the sculptural resonators, as well as the long-string architectural installations that are at the heart of the String Theory sound and performance experience. Luke’s work with String Theory and as a solo entity has led to client relationships with the likes of Showtime, Walt Disney Imagineering, HBO, Chicago Children’s Museum, Sundance Film Festival, Mercedes-Benz, Qualcomm, Volkswagen, The Emmy’s, The Grammy’s, and Warner Music Group among others. Luke is honored to have been selected as a Sundance Composer’s Lab Fellow.
